Narrative

 Plot of the film

Evil spirit-possesses and haunts this souple who are students.-to turn against each other.

I have decided on what the film that my trailer is promoting will be about. I choose psychological horro because i belive this is the best genreto produce a trailer for. One main reason being that nothing too scary actually has to be filmed and shown as psychological horrors are all about tension and suspense. My genre is about what is not shown rather than what is. What i mean by this is that most clips in a psychological trailer are the build up scenes to a scary scene and not the actual scene itself this creates fear for the viewer as the clips do not give anything away.

My Storyline
2 University students who are a couple living together in a house. There lives are typical, happy and trouble-free. That is until one person The girl has to research her family history for a university project, when doing this she finds out that she had an ancestor who killed a woman who was thought to mad in that time period as she believed in spirits. She then tells their boyfriend about it, they find it interesting but all end up making fun of it, but overall they do not make much of it. Over the next two days they complain about the house being quite cold and on the third day the guy has gone out to pick up dinner while she stays at home. She is washing up and the spirit turns up. And from there on the spirit of the woman starts to appear everywhere tormenting the couple by possessing them and scaring them, by writing on the walls, screaming and various other things. They have to find a way to destroy her, but when she possesses them she makes them turn on each other.

Psycho Trailer Deconstruction

Psycho

How does this film relate to horror and the tropes and memes it has developed over time?

This is a trailer for the film Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock which was released in 1960. It is essentially a psychological film but with slasher elements. It is a film that started the phase of slasher film an in a way the first slasher film made because of the murdering and stabbing element of it, however it is a psychological film as it involves a lot of suspense and has the mentally ill murderer. The idea of a mad man having two personas seems to have derived from the film Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in the 1920s where a doctor has a split personality and believe that everyone has a good and bad side. In Psycho the motel owner has a split personality as he not only acts like himself but he also dresses up like his deceased mother. At the end of the film we find out that he actually believes that he is  his mother as we hear him speaking in his head with an old women's voice (his mother). The Shower scene is most iconic scene in the film, as at the time no-one had ever seen something like that before and not only could the see the knife and the blood going down the drain hole but they could also hear the sound effects and the music played this then added to the suspense and scared the audience even more. . The knife is an important piece and trope with in the horror genre, i think that it has become a convention because of Psycho and it has in turn inspired future horror films. And has become the most popular weapon of choice. The music is such as iconic piece and has still well known today because it is so dramatic and chilling. Jack the Ripper can also be linked to this film, is the newspaper articles violent and graphic details were given about what had happened to the victims this then gave people a taste for the slasher genre. Here is a newspaper article from August 10th 1888 from the London Times about a Jack the Ripper murder. It is in very graphic detail which you would not find in todays newspapers, It wants to get readers interested fascinated by this event.

Above is another snippet from a newspaper article which is even more detailed than the first. In this time this is really the only source of media, and so this i in a way there 'films' or 'books' which they can get there 'Kicks' from. This the start of slasher films and has inspired future films such as 'Saw'. Alfred Hitchcock takes this idea of jack the ripper and 1920 films, shakes them up and takes ideas from them to make it original and artistic.

How does this trailer show conventions of horror trailers?

The clips in this trailer are not in order and The build up to the dramatic scenes are shown, not actually the important part of the scenes. The shots of the tall and creepy house in the dark is a typical trope of horror films and horror stories. Throughout the trailer eerie and scary music is used to build suspense. The fact that there are clips set in the rain gives the impression of a dark and scary story. There are a lot of close ups used, the most iconic probably being the close up the male chewing something and turning his head as this gives of a 'weird' impression of him as the shadowing and lighting used has made him look quite scary and psychotic. Another trope of horror trailers is where there is dialogue voice overs and this is used frequently in this trailer

History of Horror

1890's to the 1920's

The first viewings or descriptions of supernatural events are shown in many silent shorts in the late 1890's created by George Meilies, one of the most famous ones being 'Le Manoir du diable' which is also known as 'The Haunted castle' (1896) it has been known and called the first horror movie. In 1910 the first version of Frankenstein was created by Edison Studios.
In the early 20th century, the first monster was shown in a horror film called 'Quasimodo' and 'The Hunchback of Notre-Dame'. Quasimodo then appeared in other films such as 'Esmeralda' in 1906, 'The Hunchback' in 1909, 'The Love of the Hunchback' in 1910 and 'Notre-Dame de Paris' in 1911.
German Expressionist film makers went on to have a major influence later films and not only horror, films that had an impact are 'The Golem' (1920) and 'The Cabinet of Dr.Caligari' by Robert Wiene. In 1922 the first vampire themed movie was produced called 'Nosferatu' by F.W.Murnau.
In Hollywood drama, horror themes would be used such as using versions of the hunchback of ND and the monster.

Other films from the 1920's:
  • 'Dr. Jekyll And Mr Hyde'
  • 'The Phantom Carriage'
  • 'The Lost World'
  • 'The Phantom of the Opera'
  • 'London After Midnight'
  • 'Waxworks'
1930's to the 1940's

During this period Gothic horror was becoming very popular and successful. A film such as 'Dracula' by Tod Browning then influenced other films as it was quickly followed by 'Frankenstein' both in 1931. Some Gothic horror films with linked and mixed with sci-fi films for example 'The Invisible Man' in 1933,featuring a mad scientist, this was shown to be mirroring earlier German films. Theses films were produced and designed in order to trill while also implicating serious elements. Frankenstein was a very popular series as it lasted for many years.
After this many other studios were influenced by Universals films. films such as 'Dr.Jekyll and Mr Hyde' is iconic and remembered for the use of colour filters to create the transformation of Jekyll in front of the camera. 'Mystery of the Wax Museum' by Warner Bros and 'The Island of Lost Souls' by Paramount were also important in the history of horror.

1950's to the 1960's

In the time technology was evolving so this caused the theme of horror movies to change from Gothic to contemporary concerns. This is where the two sub genres horror of Armageddon and the horror of the demonic came into existence.
Many films now had the theme of humanity defeating threats from 'outside' such as alien invasions, mutated people, insects and plants. This is evident in the Japanese film released in 1954 'Godzilla' where a mutation has occurred due to nuclear radiation.
'The Thing from Another World', 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers'  both used the paranoia of the cold war to give an atmospheric creepiness to the film. The combination of sci-fi and horror where continued for decades with films such as 'The Incredible Shrinking Man' which was called a pulp masterpiece, even though more it was more sci-fi based it had elements that conveyed fears that people had such as the atomic age and the fear of social alienation. This shows how the makers were using peoples real fears to make these films scary.
Probably on of the most famous horror films of this time and in history is Alfred Hitchcock's 'Psycho' in 1960, which had major psychological elements.
Ghosts and monsters continued to be the main them of horror films, but many films used the supernatural idea to show the horror of the demonic, films such as 'The Innocents' and 'The Haunting''Rosemary's Baby' a psychological horror made in 1968, was set in New York where the devil was made flesh. A major influence in this time period was the film 'Night of the Living Dead', this was a horror or Armageddon film and was about zombies which mixes psychological insights and gore sub-genres, this bought horror into everyday life.

1970s–1980s
In 1964, the low-budget gore films successful income, and popularity of 'Rosemary's Baby', led to the release of more films with similar ideas and stories in the 1970s. 'The Exorcist' made in 1973 being one of them, this film is a historic horror film and was a major success it then made the convention of possessions by the devil/demons.
'Evil children' and reincarnation became popular themes after that film. A well known and popular Satanic horror movie was 'The Omen' in 1976, it involves a man realizing his 5 year old adopted son is actually the Antichrist. Satan became the villain and main monster in many horror films.
In 1975 director David Cronenburg made a movie called 'Shivers' which was a reinvention of body horror. 'Jaws' was created by Steven Spielberg and was the film that started off killer animal films which became a big hit.
In 1979 'Alien' was released and has scenes of graphic violence combined with sci-fi. This is also seen in the movie 'The Thing'. B movie' (Low Budget) horror films seemed to become popular in the 1980's and later became classics in the history of horror.

1990's

Many of the genres that were seen in the 80's were followed on on the 90's and the slasher films such as 'Friday the 13th', and 'Child's Play' got sequels. And new slasher movies were made like 'Silence of the Lambs' and 'New Nightmare'.
Films such as New nightmare was part of meta fictional horror films this means that it showed the relationship between fictional horror and real world horror.
In the 90's Horror went backwards and the two main problems for this is the fact that the genre wore itself out by producing slasher and gore movies too much in the 80's and the second problem was that there was now a new generation to the one in the 80's and this generations were more interested in sci-fi and fantasy films. So in order to make horror a popular genre again and appeal to its new audience, films were made to mock the genre itself. Films such as 'Braindead' which was over-exaggerated to make it humorous and 'Scream' which mocks previous horror movies and merges them with ironic humour.
2000's

This period in time was a quite one for horror movies. 'Final Destination' was a successful film and was made into a sequel, as was 'Jeepers Creepers'. Other films such as 'Orphan', 'Wrong Turn' and 'Cabin Fever' were also films that started to increase the ratings and audience in the theatre. Foreign films became a huge success and trend in the 2000's for example 'Let the right one in' made in Sweden in 2008 was later remade in Hollywood called 'Let Me In'. The use psychology was another trend that was very popular, as it was another way to scare the viewers rather than using gore. A successful psychological horror film in 2001 was 'The Others'. And then there were the remade Asian movies such as 'The Grudge' and 'The Ring'

Zombie trends seemed to make a big comeback in horror movies. A video game called 'Resident Evil' was made into a film which was then made into a sequel. '28 Days Later' was released in the same year and was a more modern version of 'The Return Of The living', the style being aggressive zombies, this also became a sequel. Another remake of a previous film was 'Dawn of the Dead', which was then adapted into a comedy called 'Shaun of the Dead'.

Violence and gore which was made on low budget returned to the screens with most films taking inspiration from 'The Last House on the Left', 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' and 'The Hills Have Eyes' made in the 70's, films such as 'Wrong Turn', 'Wolf Creek' and 'Audition'.
This sub genre was then extended and films were made with emphasis on torture and violent deaths this is often known as torture porn. Examples of this are films such as 'Hostel' and 'Saw'.
In 2009 we saw 'Paranormal Activity' arrive on our screens with inspiration being taken from the classic 'The Blair Witch Project'.

Practice

To practice making a trailer i went on this website and made a short trailer where the clips are given to you with a choice of soundtrack and then it is up to you where to place them and what to use. It was avery useful website as it gave you an idea of how to put trailers together and how cuts are best when they match the beat of the soundtrack music.

Conventions of a Psychological movie trailer

With every genre there are convention, so here are some conventions of my genre (psychological horror). Conventions also known as tropes are trends and similarities that are found in within the same genre.
  • Dark
  • House
  • Flash and fade transition
  • Screaming
  • Door slamming
  • Eerie music
  • Dialogue used as voice over
  • Close ups
  • Title of the film and release date at the end
  • Doesn't show the supernatural being in great detail if shown it is not in great focus and is for a very short period of time.
  • Starts of with long clips and these clips get shorter throughout. building up suspense.
The most famous psychological horror films are Rosemary's baby and the shining. There movies built up suspense throughout the movie and at the end a there is a climax.

Pros and Cons of Psychological Horror

Pros
Can get away with just one actor
Music is key
Location is key
A lot of it is up to the imagination of the viewer

Cons
Lighting and shadowing must be right and are essential
Psychological horror is quite popular and could be repetitive.

Psychological Horror

I have decided to do a psychological horror trailer, as the main factor that i have to find is a location with correct lighting and shadowing, and i do not need to focus a great deal on make up, which would take up a lot of my time.

Psychological horror films are different form he traditional horror film as fear comes from something material such as creatures, monsters or aliens. Tension is built up through the effects of the eerie atmosphere, sounds and the psychological fears of the characters.

Horror-Sub Genres

For my trailer i would like the genre to be horror. Horror is such a broad genre and there are many sub genres, which are shown as followed:

Action Horror-This is all about an evil force or event that has occurred and the typical conventions of it are gunfights, chases, gore, vampires, vicious animals, zombies. Some film examples of this genre is Underworld, Dawn of the Dead and Resident Evil.

Body Horror-This is where the human body is disfigured and deformed for example the incorrect placement of body parts to make monsters. Films such as Teeth, Cabin Fever, The Thing and The Fly.

Comedy Horror-Most films of this genre tend to mock the conventions of horror to a point where they are funny it combines both genres comedy and horror and there elements. Examples of this is Shaun of the dead, Beetle juice, gremlins, Slither and the scary movie sequel.

Gothic Horror- This combines the elements of goth and horror, it is very suspenseful and sometimes includes a romance that develops into a setting of a horror tale, examples of this are films like The Mummy, Frankenstein, The Woman in Black and Sleepy Hollow.

Natural Horror-This sub genre is associated with nature turning evil such as mutated beasts, insects, plants and animals turning evil and committing murder. This genre can also overlap with Sci-fi and action. Films such as The ruins, Snakes on a Plane, Jaws and Black Sheep.

Psychological Horror- This storyline and plot in these types of movies are based on the fear, guilt and beliefs of the characters. Conventions of this sub genre are eerie sound effects, suspenseful music, ghosts, supernatural beings, all of these elements build tension throughout the film. Films such as The Exorcist, The Grudge, Silent Hill, The Others and The Shining belong to this genre.

Science fiction Horror-This genre usually involves the subject of aliens, mad scientists and experiments gone wrong, films such as Alien, The Fly, The Mist and Pitch Black come under this sub genre.

Slasher Film-A slasher film normally has a plot that is based around a psycho killer/stalker that kill their victims in a violet and gruesome manner and the weapon is most likely some sort of cutting tool, this genre can overlap with other genres such as crime, mystery and thriller. Examples of this are films such as Psycho, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Child's Play and A nightmare on elm street.

Splatter Film-Splatter films involve a lot of fore and graphic violent scenes, involving a lot of blood and guts through special effects. You see this is films such as Saw, Hostel, Inside and Demons.

Zombie Film-This sub genre involves the undead, corpses and mindless human beings, examples of this are films such as Quarantine, I Am Legend, The Evil Dead and Land of the Dead.

History Of Movie Trailers

Definition

A trailer is a promotional video for an upcoming film that is to be shown in the cinemas, they consist of a series of shots that are in the movie to make a montage of motion clips along with some form of narration to give the viewer an idea of what the film is about using visual aids and a sneak preview of the film without actually giving away spoilers.

First Film Trailer

The first trailer was shown in the US for a musical called "The Pleasure Seekers" in November 1913 by Nils Granlund, he was also the first person to a trailer for a motion picture film with Charlie Chaplin in 1914. Trailers were usually made up of the key scenes in the film along with large pieces of text describing the story of the film and and underscore (music) if the trailer had narration it would usually have a voice over up until the late 1950's.

However in the 1960's motion picture trailers changed, they became text less and consisted of montage and quick editing this is due to the arrival of 'New Hollywood' and these aspects of a trailer were widely popular and so appealed to people more. New Hollywood is also know and American New Wave dated in the late 1960s to the 1980's this is basically when a new young generation in america influenced  the type of films produced along with marketing and production.

Movies now depend a lot on the quality of the trailer, so up to date and popular techniques should be used in order for films to be promoted in the best way possible and in turn gain peoples attention and get money from it.

In1964 a man called AndrewJ. Kuehn independently distributed and produced a trailer for the film 'Night of the Igwana' which included high contrast photography fast paced editing and provocative narration. This type of trailer was so popular and successful that andrew went on to produce trailers like this with his partner. In 1968 Andrew opened a Kaleidoscope films office. His company was a major influence in the trailer industry for the next 30 years. When Hollywood began producing more bigger films the demand for good marketing trailers increased  and more money was being invested in them as films and their directors depended on the quality of the trailers and so became dependent on Kuehn's company 'Kaleidoscope'.

To begin with trailers were short and simple however nowadays the trailers are longer and much more detailed. they are also now featured not only on TV and cinemas but also on DVD's, Blu-rays and online, so play a major part in the film industry.

Trailers usually have a three act structure:
  • Act 1-The premise of the story which is shown at the beginning.
  • Act 2-Delves more in to the story and plot and ends in a dramatic climax which is usually shown in the middle.
  • Act 3- a musical number that is strong and is the 'signature music' along with a montage of motion clips that are significant and dramatic in the film this is usually at the end.

My Choice

I have decided to do a trailer for my final task. Even though i liked doing the music videos i did find it uite difficult in places and it took up a lot of time for just one song, so i think i will be better off doing a trailer, also this way i am able to think of my own storyline and not follow a song.

Prelim Task Evaluation

Scripting
For our preliminary task we made a music video so scripting was very limited as the majority of our video was narrative with no dialogue or miming being used to show the lyrics. However before we started filming we printed out the lyrics of the song and then made notes on what we were goign to do for every line including shots, effects and scenes. Doing this helped us establish a timeline what to do first and what shots we could do individually, as taking notes around the lyrics helps you break up the song and in turn break up the video, it definatly helps you plan your time much better.  So when i make my final project i will plan it all before hand and also have second choices just in case things do not go right the first time. We decided to go with the linear narrative and use the lyrics to relate to the video we finally made.

Storyboard
Storyboards help make you visulaise what you want to achieve so when it comes to music videos you can draw the different scenes you would like to film. But because of the limitied time space we had we didnt have time to make a story board so instead just made notes with the lyrics on what we were going to do when and where, we also took notes on effects and shots. doing this was easy and did not take up a lot of time which worked in our favour as we had to establish the main and basic ideas quickly, even though it was not extrmely detailes it showeed what we wanted to do and how we visualised it. But when it comes to my final peice i will have mroe time so i will be making a story board with much more detailed explainations which will hopefully make filming much easier as on or prelim even though we establish most of what we wanted to achieve sometime shots did not go to plan so we had to improvise. Storyboards will be usueful as i will be able to use it while filming to see what i wanted to do for each scene.

Locations
Locations were limited mostly because of the time in which we had to produce the relim task, so for a lot of the scenes we had to film on school grounds  rather than the locatons we visualised at the begining. however we were able to film some scenes on school site as we took cameras back to our homes and ilmd some scenes there and then bought them back into school to put it together. But we tried to vary the locations over school, location is a very importna tpart of music videos so it can affect the uality of it, for example we thouht that the best scenes we filmed of site, but as this is just a practice task we are able to learn from it and improve on it. We originally wanted many different locations as it was supposed to show a variety of memories over time but in some places it just looks the same adn can falter that idea, so next time i will be planning location much better.

Planning/Organisation
Planning is important when making a music video along with filming as it establishes what you have to do and how you are going to do it. My partner and i did not find planning difficult as we agreed on most of the ideas and filmed various sceens together and separtly. we wrote down a timeline of what we were going to do on certain days when we were free in order to finish it in time. At the end of the lessons we would look over what scene was next and jsut summerize what we were going to do and how we were going to do it, such as time, place and scene.

Teamwork
Me and my partner worked well as a team, as we had very similar ideas of what we wanted to do in the music video so we did not have to spend a large amount on planning. We managed to produce our video in the specifc time range set, so this shows we worked together well in order to make the video. We put both of our ideas into the video and when it came to filming we both had individual filming scenes to do and then on most of it we would film together one filming and the other giving direction as to what to do and where to go. We also edited the music video together so we were both happy with effects and plcemnt of clips. I hadnt actually used the software before and my partner had not used it in a while so we had to figure it out long the way which may have set us back a little bit but my partner was helpful and still knew bits of how it worked so that was really helpful.

Editing
Editing the video took longer than both of us thought, but once we got used to using the software we seemed to edit faster. We had already decided that we wanted the present scenes to be in black and white to mimic the sorrow and then we wanted the rest to be normal however on some days that we were filming the weather was not great and did not set the perfect scene so we decided to change the colouring and make it brighter to reflect happier times. In our plan we also wanted to do a fast rewind of memories in the built up part of the song so when we did that we thought it would look better with an old fashioned tv effect which also links in with the beggining as the man switches on the TV and watches the memories. The technology we were working with was not great so it was difficult to edit, for example on some scenes the picture does not fit the screen but as this is a prelim and we had not ime left we had to leave it how it was and just learn from it when we do our final project. We did have a minor setback when we were cutting down clips to get the best bits out of them we found that we did not have enough footage to fill the time of the song so in soem parts we had to use slow motion on various clips however when we did this we found that slow motion actually worked better thoose clips than before as it made emphasis on certain parts that link in with the lyrics and actually tied the video together.

Final Product
We were very proud of our final product, as a lot of effort went into it and it paid off, and as it was out first attempt we were a bit unsure of how it would turn out. It was also our time using the vidoe recorder and editing software so we have learnt a lot from it. By doing this task we are able to look back at it and learn from mistakes and see how we can improve on it for our final project. Even though it was eant to look like ammatuer filming in places in others it was meant to be still and professional but without the correct resources eg tripod we had to do our best, however this is our first attempt to we were unable to spend a lot of time editing and perfecting. This has helped me a lot to decide what i want to do for my final project

Preliminary task

For the preliminary task my partner and i decided to do a music video the song we choose is called Here Comes Goodbye by Rascal Flatts. We choose this song because of its lyrics as the were narrative, and we both wanted to make a narrative video as it suited us best. This song originally has a music video however we decided not to watch it as we did not want it to influence our judgement and ideas on the music video we were creating. We wanted to create a music video from scratch made up of our own ideas.

When it comes to music videos it is much better to have more than one or two people in it, however we a were unable to find people able to be in the music video. Our original idea was to film a girl and a boy's relationship to fit the lyrics however we could not find someone to play the boy so instead we improvised and made it so you were watching the memories and relationship through the boys eyes and all you could see was the girl, this way you never had to see the boys face as it was show through his eyes.

When filming we were limited on resources such as euiptment, on some parts of the video like to beginning and the end scenes the filming is shaky because it is handheld so would have been much more professional is we had a tripod, to keep it steady. We were limited on locations as well due to the time frame in which we had to make this so we just had to make it the best we could with what we had.

When we started editing the video we had three types of settings memories, future and present. The present is shown at the begining and end in black and white as the song is very sad and explains how the boy is waiting for the girl to say goodbye. He sings about how he remembers her when she was happy so for this we filmed everyday things such as her walking and talking with him and messing around, with these scenes we brightened it up a bit so convey happiness. there is also a future scene of what could have happened wither her in the wedding dress, the editing technique here is just adjusting the brightness to give it a dream like effect. We also used a rewind effect to show that something bad is happening to the happy memories which then link in with the present scenes.

This type of song and video would appeal to women in their late teens and early 20's as it is about heartbreak, love an relationships, which appeals to women more than men.

I will be taking in all aspects of this video when deciding on my final piece and what genre i want to do, and how i can improve in technology, editing and the structure of it in any way.

The Pudding Bowl

What does this short film mean to you?
I like this film as it is uite sweet. The young girl is punished by her mother for something her brother did by having her hair cut of however she doesnt let this affect her and makes herself feel pretty and glamourous with other resources, she punishes her brother by stealing his bike. This whole storyline is great because i can empathise with the little girl as she was very upset when getting her hair cut of as it obviously meant  a lot to her and she cares about her appearence, but the way she deals with her annoyance towards her brother for causing the upset is really sweet as she makes the most of her situation and doesnt let it hold her back. It can be seen as inspirational as she did not let something get her down, and i think this is very important as we see her cutting out a picture of a woman who is inspiration to her yet in the end she has become inspirational.

Mise En Scene
This film is set in the 1950's so the clothes and location reflect that. The hairstyles also show the period of time especially in the picture that Ivy is looking at of a famous woman. However when her mother cuts of her hair the inspiraiot tshe has to look like the woman in the picture is momentarily destroyed but she instead decides that she is not going to stop her from becoming what she wants so she uses her resources to makes her feel pretty like the picture, she puts a pair of tights on her hair to represent longer hair and the steals her brothers bike to get the boys to ru after her, giving her the illusion that she looks like the woman in the picture and the boys are acutally running for her as admirers and fans.

Shots and Edit
Form the beginning of the film thier are slose up shots of the little girl and the images she is cutting out givfing the viewer the impression that these aspects will be linkin in the film and as we see they are as the litle girl wants to be like to woman in the photograph pretty and glamourous.

Sound
The main sound at the beginning of the film is the scissors cutting which the little girl is using, this outs emphasis on the fact that the are going to be playing an importat part in the story. At the end of the film when the girl is rding on the bike she turns into she women in the picture whe this happens elegant music is played to match her feelings towards the way she feels.

Theory

If we look at Todorovs theory we can see that this film follows the theory. At the beginning we see Ivy (the little girl) happy and in her own little world, cutting out pictures of pretty famous people, We then see a disruption which is her brother putting glue in her hair and her mother cutting her hair off, which hurts her. To solve this problem she puts stocking on her head to act like hair. Ivy then steal her brothers bike and is cycling away form them happy yet again in her own world, whilst also imagining she is the women she was cutting out at the beginning.
You can see the equilibriums, where she is happy at the beginning and at the ending. You can also see the disruption in the middle that is eventually solved.
